Health ministry believes polluted water behind poisoning epidemic in West Bank village

 

NABLUS, August 2, 2018 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Health said on Thursday that results of tests on water samples taken from Beit Furik village following an outbreak of dozens of poisoning cases will be out later in the day and it will be determined if polluted drinking water was the reason.

According to the director of primary health care in the ministry, Assad Ramlawi, around 250 cases were treated at various health clinics and hospitals in Nablus in the north of the West Bank suffering from headache, rise in temperature, vomiting and diarrhea.

He told WAFA that all the cases were treated and released and that the ministry has formed a team of experts to investigate the reason for the epidemic by testing water and food samples and taking the necessary measures to make sure it will not be repeated.

He urged people to boil the water before drinking it until the causes of the poisoning reported on Wednesday night is determined.
