AMMAN, August 1, 2018 (WAFA) – The Palestine Liberation Organization’s (PLO) Central Council is expected to meet in Ramallah on August 15, the speaker of the Palestinian National Council (PNC), the highest Palestinian decision making body, said on Wednesday.
He said in a statement from the Jordanian capital, the headquarters of the PNC, that the Central Council, second in line to the PNC, has an important mission at this stage in the Palestinian struggle and that is to discuss and decide on critical issues such as drawing out a mechanism to transform the Palestinian Authority from an interim authority to a state as per United Nations General Assembly resolution of 2012.
He said the Central Council, which will convene under the slogan “Moving from Authority to Statehood,” has also been entrusted with implementing the PNC decisions made earlier this year, particularly regarding redefining security, political and economic relationship with Israel as an occupying power.
