Woman detainee, held for her writings, undergoes long hours of vicious interrogation

RAMALLAH, August 1, 2018 (WAFA) – A Palestinian woman detainee has been undergoing long and vicious interrogation at Asqalan detention center in Israel, the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) said on Wednesday.

PPS attorney Firas al-Sabbah said Lama Khater, 42, who was detained at her Hebron home on July 24, was interrogated for long hours on two consecutive days in an attempt to break her and force her to sign a confession.

Khater was screamed at, tied to a chair, refused permission to go to the toilet except for once a day and denied food, said Sabbah after visiting her at her detention center.

He said that after an appeal hearing on Sunday, Israeli interrogators subjected Khater for questioning until eight at night and on the next day they interrogated her for 10 hours regarding her writings, which they described as “time bombs.”

Khater is mother of five children and was previously detained for her activism against the Israeli occupation.
