RAMALLAH, March 9, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli Jewish settlers’ attacks against Palestinian farmers and the seizure of lands in the northern West Bank district of Nablus hit the front page headlines in Palestinian dailies.
The dailies reported that Israeli occupation authorities seized Palestinian-owned lands in Burin town, south of Nablus.
They added Israeli Jewish settlers attacked Palestinian farmers while they were plowing their land in al-Sawiyeh village, south of Nablus.
Al-Quds added that Israeli occupation authorities started the construction of a settlers-only by-pass road on lands belonging to Beit Awwa, south west of Hebron.
According to al-Hayat al-Jadida, a 12-year-old Palestinian minor sustained injuries after being chased by Israeli troops in Hebron city.
It added Israeli occupation authorities prevented a Palestinian event marking International’s Women Day in East Jerusalem.
On the other hand, al-Ayyam opted to highlight statements on the Palestinian National Council’s (PNC) session to be held in May.
It reported Palestinian officials stating that PNC would nominate new members for the Palestine Liberation Organization’s (PLO) Executive Committee.
Commenting on Hamas’ refusal to participate in the PNC’s session, Secretary-General of the PLO Executive Committee Saeb Erekat stated that Hamas continued to reject engagement in political partnership and insisted on operating as a “parallel authority”.
Moreover, President Mahmoud Abbas was reported in the dailies stating that the Palestinian and Israeli peoples had no choice except for living in two neighboring states.
Abbas reportedly made his statements during a meeting with a delegation of Israeli authors, artists and university professors in Ramallah.
The dailies spotlighted New York Times’ report indicating that part of the site to house the US embassy in Jerusalem was located within the Palestinian territories that have been occupied by Israeli since June 1967.
Furthermore, al-Quds and al-Ayyam reported Palestinian factions announcing that a march would be organized along Gaza’s border with Israel starting on March 30.
Palestinian refugees are expected to participate in the Great March of Return, which would commence on March 30, the Land Day, until the Nakba, May 15.
They added in this regard that Israeli military has been on alert in anticipation of clashes along Gaza’s borders with Israel.
Al-Quds reported Foreign and Expatriates Minister Riyad Malki stating that Arab foreign ministers reiterated their full support for the Palestinian cause.
He was also reported in al-Hayat al-Jadida stating that the Arabs’ failure to carry out their decisions over the past decades has encouraged the US to persist with its unfortunate approach ]and make its decision on Jerusalem[.
