CAIRO, March 7, 2018 (WAFA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Riyad Al-Malki called on Wednesday for supporting the Palestinian peace plan presented by President Mahmoud Abbas in the Security Council and the need to mobilize international support for it.
Malki‘s comments came during the 149th ordinary session of the Arab League at the level of foreign ministers in Cairo.
This plan will be a correct input to start a real peace process able to create appropriate conditions for the settlement of the conflict, said Malki.
He added that the announcement by US President Donald Trump on Jerusalem went against the vision of the international community and its conviction of the fundamentals of a political solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Malki stressed that Palestine, with Arab, Islamic and international support, was able to mobilize the international rejection, whether in the Security Council or the General Assembly, in besieging Trump‘s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel‘s capital.
The minister highlighted the need for effective international action to pressure Israel to stop and abandon all its practices against the Palestinian people, especially settlement expansion which poses a threat of any peace settlement in the region.
