RAMALLAH, March 7, 2018 (WAFA) - Japan has provided $40 million to a number of sectors and projects in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, particularly Jerusalem, a statement by the prime minister’s office said on Wednesday.
Khayria Rissas, an adviser to Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, received a letter from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) regarding the new $40 million Japanese aid package to the Palestinian people.
This came during a meeting with the Japanese delegation in the presence of Japanese Ambassador to Palestine Takeshi Okubo, where the two sides discussed mechanisms of cooperation to implement vital projects that will be supported by Japan.
Rissas thanked Japan for its financial support to the Palestinian people, particularly its projects in Gaza and Jericho’s Agro-Industrial Zone, and said Japan is one of the most important donors and contributors toward Palestinian development.
She called on the Japanese government to support Palestinian efforts to implement the desalination plant in Gaza, noting that this project will solve the water crisis there.
