Newspapers Review: Israeli provocations highlighted in dailies

RAMALLAH, March 7, 2018 (WAFA) – News about Jewish fanatics’ provocative tours at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem as well as settlers attacking Palestinian civilians hit the front page of the two of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies on Wednesday.

Al-Quds said that more than 70 Israeli extremist Jews, including Torah students, toured Al-Aqsa Mosque under heavy police protection.

Al-Ayyam said Israeli settlers razed Palestinian land in Masafer Yatta in the south of the West Bank while others attacked Palestinian civilians in Einabous, in the north of the West Bank.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida focused in its main front page story on the telephone call between President Mahmoud Abbas and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fatah al-Sisi during which they discussed the latest political developments and joint cooperation.

It also highlighted the meeting between Sisi and the Saudi Arabian crown prince during which they reaffirmed their total support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, as reported in the three dailies.

Al-Quds said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is taking advantage of the AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) conference to incite against President Abbas.

The paper also highlighted a statement by the UN. It said that Israel is expelling Palestinians from the area known as H2 is the city of Hebron.

Israel has also started the construction of a crossing on lands belonging to al-Issawiya in Jerusalem, according to al-Quds.

Al-Ayyam and al-Quds said that several NGOs urged the UN to blacklist the Israeli army over killing Palestinian children.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam said the Israeli parliament has approved a bill that legalizes and allows Israel to keep bodies of Palestinians killed by the Israeli army.

Al-Ayyam said that dozens of Palestinian families were forced to leave their homes in the Jordan Valley during Israeli military drills.
