Palestinian prisoner who rejected insult faces new punitive measures

RAMALLAH, February 28, 2018 (WAFA) – The Israeli prison administration at Nafha imposed new punitive measures against Wael Natsheh,  including tying his hands and feet to an iron bed for a week, ban from visits for one month, a fine of $70 and charging him of hitting an Israeli officer, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said on Wednesday.

It said the prisoners in Nafha prison are going to close their wards on Wednesday to protest the Israeli punitive measures against Natsheh, particularly because he was beaten and tortured by prison guards and he did not receive medical treatment.

Natsheh, who is serving a life sentence for resisting the Israeli occupation, had refused a strip  search and hit an officer. As  result he was severely beaten, and deprived from food and drink. He is still kept in solitary confinement in Nafha prison.

PPS said that Natsheh’s hands were still tied above his head in the cell and that he underwent a military trial in the prison for assaulting an Israeli officer inside the prison.
