Palestinians clash with soldiers following funeral of withheld corpse

HEBRON, February 17, 2018 (WAFA) – Palestinians clashed on Saturday with Israeli soldiers in Halhoul, north of Hebron, following the funeral of a local youth whose corpse was released by the army after 10 days of withholding it, according to WAFA correspondent.

He said the clashes broke out soon after Halhoul residents laid to rest Hamza Zamareh, 19, who was shot and killed by an Israeli settlement guard.

Israel freed Zamareh’s corpse on Friday after withholding it since his murder on February 7 after he allegedly attempted to stab an Israeli at the gate to the illegal settlement of Karmi Tsur, built on expropriated Halhoul land.

Soldiers fired stun grenades and tear gas canisters at the Palestinian protesters, who threw rocks at the soldiers.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.
