Israeli navy arrest fishermen, seize boat off Gaza shore

GAZA, February 11, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli navy arrested two Palestinian fishermen and seized their boat while they were sailing offshore the town of Beit Lahia, north of the besieged Gaza Strip, according to local sources.

The two fishermen, identified as Ayed and Tareq Sultan, were taken by the navy to an unknown destination. The navy also confiscated their boat.

Despite the signed agreements between the Palestinians and Israel which allow fishermen to go 12 nautical miles inside the Mediterranean, Israeli navy targets fishermen offshore the Gaza Strip almost daily, and does not allow them to go further than three nautical miles, which the fishermen say is not enough to catch fish.
