RAMALLAH, February 8, 2018 (WAFA) - Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah met on Thursday with United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nikolay Mladenov, and EU representative for Palestine Ralph Tarraf in two separate meetings at his Ramallah office and discussed with them the latest political developments.
During the meetings, Hamdallah tackled Israel’s policy aimed at undermining the two-state solution with its settlement activity, drafting laws that will change existing legal and historical status especially in Jerusalem.
Hamdallah called on international organizations, especially the UN, to take serious steps to force Israel to stop its military and settlement activity and to provide international protection for Palestinians along with their Islamic and Christian holy places from Israeli army and settlers violations.
The Prime Minister discussed with Tarraf the latest on the outcome of AHLC meeting of donor countries held recently at EU headquarter in Brussels.
He briefed Tarraf on the need for funds by donor countries for projects such as desalination plant in Gaza and a gas pipeline in order to use it in electric power station.
He valued EU position of peace process and its support for two-state solution, reiterating the necessity to find international mechanism to sponsor negotiation with Israel on the basis of international resolutions, in order to realize a just and lasting solution and to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
