NABLUS, February 6, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Tuesday detained at least 18 Palestinians in multiple raids that were mostly concentrated in the northern West Bank, said the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
Israeli forces detained two Palestinians after storming their homes in Beit Furik town, east of Nablus. One of the detainees was a father whom Israeli soldiers detained in order to force his son to turn himself in.
Mayor of Beit Furik, Awad Hanani, said soldiers stormed a detainee’s family home, seizing his laptop and vehicle.
Forces detained two other Palestinians during separate raids into Kafr Qalil and Beit Dajan village, east of Nablus.
PPS said another Palestinian was detained from Nablus district.
Meanwhile, Israeli troops combed Deir Istiya town, northwest of Salfit, following the killing of an Israeli settler in a stabbing attack at the entrance of Ariel settlement. The raid resulted in the detention of four Palestinians.
In Jenin district, Israeli forces conducted large-scale search-and-raid campaign in Silat al-Harithiya village, northwest of Jenin, detaining three Palestinians and causing property destruction.
Three others, including a 15-year-old minor, were detained from Qalqilia district in the northern West Bank.
In the central West Bank, Israeli forces detained three Palestinians during a similar overnight in al-Mughayyir town, northeast of Ramallah.
PPS said that a total of 71 Palestinians from Jenin district have been detained since Israeli military launched an extensive manhunt for Ahmad Nasr Jarrar, who allegedly killed an Israeli settler near Nablus last month. Jarrar was reportedly found and shot dead by Israeli soldiers on Tuesday in the town of al-Yamoun, west of Jenin.
