Israeli forces carry out wide-scale raids in Salfit after killing of settler

SALFIT, February 5, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Monday carried out wide-scale raids in various villages and towns located to the north of Salfit, blocked roads and declared many areas there closed military zones following the killing of a settler near the Israeli settlement of Ariel, said WAFA correspondent.

A fourty-year-old settler from the illegal Israeli settlement of Har Brakha was critically stabbed in his upper extremities at the entrance of the illegal Israeli settlement of Ariel. He was transferred to hospital with critical injuries where he succumbed to his wounds shortly after.

Israeli media sources said Israeli soldiers chased after the unidentified perpetrator, however he managed to flee the scene.

The perpetrator, believed to be a Palestinian, was run over twice by Israeli army vehicles before he fled the scene, said Israeli sources.

In the aftermath of the fatal attack, dozens of Israeli settlers  gathered along various roads in Salfit governorate as well as along Yitshar road, south of Nablus, and attacked passing Palestinian cars with stones.
