RAMALLAH, February 2, 2018 (WAFA) – Spokesman of the government Yousef al-Mahmoud described the statement made by “a senior US official” in which he said that President Mahmoud has rejected to return to the negotiating table as “clearly misleading”.
Al-Mahmoud said the US official’s statement was “an obvious and deliberate misleading of the Palestinian leadership‘s vision, and therefore falls within the context of unacceptable incitement.”
He reiterated the commitment of the Palestinian leadership, headed by President Mahmoud Abbas, to negotiations, dialogue and to a serious peace process leading to the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders, based on the two-state solution and the resolutions of the international community.
“The Palestinian national vision calls for reaching a just solution through negotiations to restore all the rights of our people, foremost of which is the right to self-determination, sovereignty and independence,” al-Mahmoud said in a statement on Friday.
