German activist injured during march in Ramallah-district village

RAMALLAH, November 24, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Friday suppressed a weekly march in Bilin village, west of Ramallah, injuring a German activist.

Palestinian, Israeli and international activists participated in the village’s weekly march against illegal Israeli settlements and apartheid wall, raising Palestinian flags and chanting slogans calling for unity and stressing the importance of resisting Israeli occupation.

Upon their arrival to Israel’s apartheid wall, built on lands confiscated from the village, protestors spray-painted slogans reading: “Freedom for prisoners”, “No for occupation” and “Yes for boycotting Israel”.

Israeli forces reportedly flew a surveillance drone that took photos for the protest, triggering clashes with protestors.

They opened fire at protestors, injuring a 26-year-old German activist with a rubber-coated steel bullet in the back.

Bilin is one of the most active Palestinian villages in terms of organizing weekly Friday peaceful marches against the Israeli policies of land grab, settlement and wall construction as residents have often been met with tear gas, rubber-coated steel bullets and concussion bombs from Israeli forces.
