Days of Cinema to screen 65 films, including four nominated for the Oscars

 

RAMALLAH, October 16, 2017 (WAFA) – Days of Cinema 2017, which opens in Ramallah on Tuesday, is going to screen 65 international and Palestinian films including four Oscar-nominated films, according to a press release by Filmlab, organizer of the Days of Cinema event.

The week-long event will present fiction, documentary, short and kids’ films and screening will take place in Jerusalem, Ramallah, Bethlehem, Nablus and Gaza.

The four Oscar-nominated films include Wajib by Palestinian director Annemarie Jacir and starring Palestinian actor Mohammad Bakri, which will be the opening night film with screening at the Ramallah Cultural Palace.

They also included the film The Insult for Lebanese director Ziad Doueiri, which will be the closing film, starring Palestinian actor Kamel El Basha; Tempestad by Mexican director Tatiana Huezo; and The Last of Us by Tunisian director Alaeddine Slim.

Other titles in the lineup include the documentary film Gaza Surf Club by Philip Gnadt and Mickey Yamine; Ken Loach’s Golden Palm-winning social drama I, Daniel Blake; Hedi by Mohamed Ben Attia; Mahbas by Sophie Boutros; Ouroboros by Basma Alsharif; and In the Last Days of the City by Tamer El Said.

Days of Cinema is an annual event organized by the Ramallah-based Filmlab.

All screenings and activities are free of charge, according to the website.
