Israeli colonists establish new outposts, expand existing ones in Masafer Yatta

HEBRON, August 27, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists established a new colonial outpost and expanded several existing outposts, in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, local sources reported.

Activist Osama Makhamreh told WAFA that a group of colonists began establishing a new outpost on citizens' land, near their homes east of Khirbet Umm al-Khair.

The colonists set up four caravans on Palestinian lands, while continuing extensive land leveling and excavation work around the village, which has become surrounded by multiple outposts.

Simultaneously, colonists expanded an outpost built on Palestinians' land in the Al-Batma area near Khallet al-Daba', where construction of several new units is ongoing.

In Sha'b al-Batma, colonists expanded the so-called Mitzpe Yair colony, built on citizens' land, by adding several caravans.

Makhamreh added that settler groups, supported by the occupation authorities, are significantly escalating their seizure of citizens' lands for the benefit of their colonial expansion.

Six large colonies have been established on citizens' lands in Masafer Yatta, in addition to the establishment of more than 20 outposts spread across vast areas of citizens' lands, most of which were established after 2021, and have increased significantly since the aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.
