RAMALLAH, August 27, 2025 (WAFA) – Data from the National Campaign for the Recovery of Martyrs' Bodies indicated that the occupation continues to hold the bodies of 726 slain Palestinians in refrigerators and so-called "cemeteries of numbers."
In a statement issued Wednesday on the occasion of the National Day for the Recovery of Martyrs' Bodies, the campaign explained that among those held are 256 martyrs buried in numbered cemeteries, and 469 martyrs have been detained since the resumption of this policy in 2015, a clear indication of the escalation of this policy in recent years.
The campaign added that the list includes the remains of 67 children, 85 prisoners, and 10 women.
The occupation authorities have also held the bodies of more than 1,500 Palestinians from the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war on Gaza in 2023. They are being held at the Sdei Teiman camp, confirming the systematic and long-term nature of these violations.
The group underscored that the withholding of bodies represents a systematic extension of colonial domination, punishing Palestinians twice: during life and after death, by turning them into bargaining chips and depriving families of the opportunity to mourn.
