Israeli forces besiege Old City of Nablus for nine hours, families forced to evacuate homes

NABLUS, August 27, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces have continued their raids on the city of Nablus, imposing a siege on its Old City for nearly nine hours. This has so far resulted in the detention of one Palestinian and the forced evacuation of several families from their homes.

Dozens of military vehicles entered the city, with troops spreading across neighborhoods and tightening the siege around the Old City. Soldiers raided several homes, forcing families in the al-Qasaba quarter to leave their residences, instructing them not to return until later in the day.

They affirmed that occupation forces were deployed throughout the city's neighborhoods, deploying snipers in the Sufyan Street area and Martyrs' Square in the city center. They also raided several shops in the Ras al-Ain area.

The Old City of Nablus witnessed one of the most violent and prolonged Israeli incursions, on June 11, 2025, when large forces of the occupation army invaded the alleys of the historic city, amid heavy gunfire and tear gas bombs, storming homes by force, forcing families to leave their homes.

The forces converted historic landmarks—such as Khan al-Wakala—into military outposts. Even portraits of martyrs displayed on the walls were not spared.
