RAMALLAH, August 24, 2017 (WAFA) – Three Palestinian judges from the Judicial Inspection Department of the High Judicial Council (HJC) together with two chief prosecutors from the Attorney General office concluded on Thursday a four-day study trip to the Homolog Institution in Romania, according to a EUPOL COPPS press release.
The study trip, facilitated by the EUPOL COPPS, the Palestinian judges and prosecutors got an opportunity to exchange experiences in the area of judicial inspection with their Romanian counterparts.
Other areas of expertise were also discussed, including disciplinary liability, professional evaluation and court/prosecution offices management control.
Besides visiting the Homolog Institution in Bucharest, the delegation visited courts and prosecution offices in Brasov and Cluj Napoca, allowing members to learn from the practical experience in the area of the judicial inspection.
Last year, Romania and the High Judicial Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of cooperation in the inspection field.
The support of EUPOL COPPS (European Union Coordinating Office for Palestinian Police Support) aims at empowering the Palestinian justice sector institutions to effectively perform assigned roles and responsibilities and to enhance the accountability in the justice sector.
