RAMALLAH, May 17, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Wednesday clashed with Palestinians near the town of Silwad, north of Ramallah, following attempts by residents to block a highway used by settlers in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike, local source said.
Abdul Rahman Saleh, mayor of Silwad, told WAFA that the clashes were intense leading to one resident identified as Ibrahim Hamed being injured from army gunfire and was later detained. His situation was not immediately known.
Saleh said many people, including women and children, suffocated due to the tear gas bombs that were fired at the town by Israeli forces during the clashes.
