RAMALLAH, May 17, 2017 (WAFA) – Families of hunger striking Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails shut down on Wednesday the United Nations‘ office in Ramallah in protest against what they described as the “silence” of the international organization towards the demands of the prisoners.
Families and activists gathered in a sit-in outside the offices and prevented staff from entering the building while shouting slogans calling on the UN to immediately intervene to resolve the issue of the prisoners who have been on hunger strike since April 17.
The protesters called on the United Nations General Assembly to hold an emergency session to discuss the strike of the prisoners and their legitimate demands, as well as to put an end the daily Israeli violations and threats of force-feed of the hunger strikers.
