NEW DELHI, May 16, 2017 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas Tuesday briefed Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj on the latest political developments.
Abbas met at his residence in New Delhi with Swaraj where they discussed the latest political developments in relation to the Palestinian question, including efforts to move the peace process forward and the situation of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails who have been on a hunger strike for 30 days.
Abbas also briefed Swaraj on Israeli violations, including violations against Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and settlement construction, which continues to pose a serious threat to the two-state solution.
They also discussed means to develop Palestinian-Indian relations.
Abbas was officially received when he arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday, where is expected to meet India’s president and prime minister.
He arrived in India on Sunday for a four-day visit.
