RAMALLAH, May 15, 2017 (WAFA) – Based on data provided on Monday by the Central Elections Commission (CEC), lists that registered independent or non-partisan for local council elections in 145 West Bank localities obtained 65% of seats.
However, Fatah lists in the 181 localities were elections were not held because only one list was named and therefore won automatically, Fatah got the majority of seats.
Based on CEC data, the non-partisan lists in the 145 localities where elections were held were followed by Fatah lists with 27.6%, Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine lists 2.77%, coalition lists between several parties 2.77%, Palestinian National Initiative 0.58%, the Palestinian Democratic Union 0.45%, the Democratic Alliance 0.32%, the Palestinian Popular Struggle Front 0.26% and the Palestinian People‘s Party 0.19% of the seats.
According to gender distribution, women accounted for 19.8% of the total number of winners and 80.2% for men.
According to the age group, the percentage of winners aged 25-35 was 16.5% of the total number of winners, while the age group between 36-45 years was 25%, the percentage of winners between the ages of 46-55 was 33.8% and 24.7% of the winners were over the age of 55 years.
As for the 181 localities that won by acclamation with 1683 seats, the non-partisan lists got 11.6% of seats, Fatah lists 74.9%, Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine lists 0.65%, and coalition of several parties got 12.9% of the seats.
Women won 22.4% of the total number of winners, while the percentage of men was 77.6%.
According to the age group, the percentage of winners in the 25-35 age group was 25.1% of the total number of winners. The age group 36-45 years was 28.7%, while the percentage of winners aged 46-55 was 29.4% and 16.8% of the winners were over the age of 55 years.
