Palestinians commemorate 69th anniversary of Nakba

RAMALLAH, May 15, 2017 (WAFA) – Palestinians across the West Bank and aboard are commemorating on Monday the 69th anniversary of the Palestinian catastrophe, the Nakba.

The commemoration involves several events including mass rallies, political seminars, photo exhibitions, sports competitions, candlelight marches, documentaries and media bulletins and visits to solidarity tents with the prisoners.

In Ramallah, a central march is expected to set off from tomb of Yasser Arafat, where a central festival will be held at noon in the center of the city.

Meanwhile in the Gaza Strip, the Hamas authorities banned any marches planned for the Nakba anniversary. The Hamas decision has received sharp criticism from different faction leaders, including those of Fatah and other factions of the Palestine Liberation Organization.
