Consumer price index down in April 2017, says statistics bureau

RAMALLAH, May 14, 2017 (WAFA) – The overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Palestine during April 2017 decreased by 0.50 percent compared with March 2017, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said on Thursday.

It said CPI decreased by 1.01 percent in the West Bank, while it increased by 0.13 percent in the Gaza Strip and by 0.61 percent in Jerusalem areas outside the Israeli-ruled parts.

CPI during April 2017 increased by 0.86 percent compared with April 2016. The index increased by 0.88 percent in the West Bank, by 3.59 percent in Jerusalem areas outside the Israeli-ruled parts and by 0.80 percent in Gaza Strip.

The CPI during the first four months of 2017 increased by 0.72 percent compared with the same period of the previous year. It increased by 0.94 percent in the West Bank, by 3.30 percent in Jerusalem and by 0.35 percent in Gaza Strip.
