CAIRO, April 29, 2017 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas met on Saturday with his Egyptian counterpart Abdul Fattah al-Sisi at the al-Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo.
Both leaders discussed the regional and international diplomatic endeavors that aim at reviving the peace process and giving the Palestinian people an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
President Abbas‘s visit to Cairo is meant to coordinate the Egyptian-Palestinian stances ahead of his first meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington this week.
Meanwhile, president Abbas highly appreciated Egypt‘s role in support of the Palestinian cause in the international arena.
The meeting was attended by Fatah Central Committee member Azzam al-Ahmed, General Intelligence Chief Majid Faraj and Palestinian Ambassador to Cairo Jamal al-Shobaky.
