RAMALLAH, April 26, 2017 (WAFA) - Foreign Minister Riyad Malki Wednesday called on the United States to take a clear stand from Israeli settlement policy.
Speaking on Voice of Palestine radio, Malki urged Washington to speak out against a new Israeli decision to build 10,000 housing units in a settlement that is planned to be built in occupied East Jerusalem.
He said this step by the Israeli government is proof that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not want peace, nor does he want to return to negotiations.
A high level Palestinian delegation is currently in Washington to prepare for the May 3 visit of President Mahmoud Abbas to the US and his meeting with President Donald Trump.
Malki said the Palestinians are trying their best to make the Abbas visit and talks a success.
Asked about where does the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague stand from the settlements issue following the Palestinian complaint, Malki said that he will soon meet with the ICC prosecutor in order to find out the latest about the court’s investigation in regard to the Israeli settlements.
