Israel to demolish two Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, April 23, 2017 (WAFA) – Staff of the Israeli West Jerusalem municipality Sunday delivered two demolition notices for two Palestinian houses in the East Jerusalem town of Silwan, citing unpermitted construction as a pretext, local sources said.

WAFA correspondent reported on locals as saying the Israeli municipality staff, backed by Israeli police, hung paper notices for the demolition of two houses in Silwan, which they stressed, comes as part of a new demolition campaign against Palestinian structures and homes in the said town.

To be noted, the Israeli municipality has issued dozens of demolition orders against  houses in the area, including against 88 houses; which make up the total number of houses in al-Bustan neighborhood.

Palestinians say they are forced to build without a permit because obtaining a building permit is virtually impossible as the right-wing mayor attempts to keep the city’s Palestinian population at a bare minimum while multiplying its Jewish residents by approving the construction of thousands of new housing units in Jewish-only settlements.
