Israeli forces open fire on Palestinian fishermen, farmers in Gaza

GAZA, April 14, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Friday targeted Palestinian fishermen’s boats  sailing in northern Gaza waters and farmers to the east of Gaza with gunfire, said sources.

Israeli naval boats opened fire on fishermen despite sailing within the unilaterally designated fishing zone offshore northern Gaza, forcing the latter to change route to preserve their lives, property, and equipment.

Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers stationed at military watchtowers along the borders with Israel to the east of Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, opened random fire toward Palestinian farmers as they were tending to their crops.

Similar attacks were carried out against farmers to the east of Johor Addik area, in central Gaza.

No injuries were reported.

Israeli army and navy routinely open fire at Palestinian fishermen and farmlands along the Gaza border in a blatant violation of a ceasefire deal reached between Israel and the Palestinian factions in Gaza on August 26, 2014 following 51 days of bloody aggression on the Strip.
