RAMALLAH, April 9, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli forces last night and Sunday detained 31 Palestinians during raids in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
PPS said that Israeli police detained 23 Arab citizens in raids in several areas in Jerusalem. Most of them were released after they were given orders banning them from entering al-Aqsa mosque compound.
Israeli army also detained seven Palestinians from the district of Hebron in the occupied West Bank and one from Bethlehem.
The PPS noted that 15 Palestinians were detained over the past two days.
A joint report by the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS), Al Mezan center for Human Rights, Prisoners Support and Human Rights Association, said that Israeli forces arrested 509 Palestinians, including 75 minors, 13 females, five journalists and one Palestinian Legislative Council member, in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in March 2017.
According to the report, the total number of Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli prisons is 6,500, with 500 of them being administrative detainees, 300 minors and 62 females.
