Israel bans 23 Palestinians from entering al-Aqsa mosque

JERUSALEM, April 9, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli authorities Sunday issued orders to ban 23 Arab citizens from occupied East Jerusalem from entering al-Aqsa mosque compound for various periods of time, WAFA correspondent said.

He said that some citizens were banned entry for six months, while others were banned for two weeks.

He added that this came following similar decisions taken by the Israeli authorities to ban entry of Palestinians, including Islamic Awqaf personnel, to al-Aqsa mosque during the celebrations of the Jewish holiday “Passover”, which is going to last until April 17th.

Palestinians from the occupied West Bank are also banned from entering Jerusalem during the Jewish holiday.

Meanwhile, Israeli police carried out wide-scale raids in East Jerusalem and detained at least 18 Palestinians from several areas in in the city.

Last week, Israeli security services issued an order banning an employee of the Islamic Waqf (endowment) from entering al-Aqsa Mosque for six months.
