RAMALLAH, April 6, 2017 (WAFA) – The planned demolition of Palestinian homes in the central West Bank district of Ramallah and al-Bireh hit the front page headlines in local Palestinian dailies.
The daily said Israeli forces delivered demolition notices for three Palestinian homes in al-Bireh city and Jalazoun refugee camp in the central West Bank.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida added Israeli forces demolished a number of residential barracks and tents in the village of Deir Ballut, west of Salfit in the central West Bank.
The dailies also reported Israeli forces shot and critically injured a Palestinian young man with live fire during clashes in Duheisha refugee camp in the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida added forces also shot and injured a Palestinian young man with live ammunition in the southern West Bank district of Hebron.
On the other hand, al-Ayyam opted to spotlight anger and protests in the besieged Gaza Strip following deductions from the March salaries of Palestinian Authority’s (PA) civil servants.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said Fatah slammed the deductions, calling on President Mahmoud Abbas to intervene in order to rescind the government’s decision to deduct at least 30 percent from the March salaries of civil servants.
Al-Quds also reported government spokesperson Tareq Rishmawi explaining the deductions are a temporary measure intended to ensure sustained salary payments to Gaza-based civil servants.
Both dailies also reported Israeli authorities banned at least five Palestinians from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem ]for periods between 30 days and six months[.
The dailies said Abbas received former Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Yehuda Lankri and Deputy Mayor of the central Israeli city of Kfar Saba Eli Cohen in Ramallah.
Al-Quds said the so-called “Western Wall Heritage Foundation” published a tender for the construction of a massive structure in the so-called Western Wall Plaza in East Jerusalem.
It reported member of Fatah Central Committee Mohammad Shtayyeh stating the Palestinian leadership is looking forward to be directly informed by the US Administration about its attitudes toward the Middle East peace process.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported a Fatah-affiliated student list came out on the top of student senate elections in Bethlehem University.
The dailies said the PA and Israel signed an agreement that would allow Palestinian mobile service providers to offer 3G to their Palestinian customers.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, approved a bill that would accelerate demolitions of Palestinian homes across Israel and East Jerusalem.
Al-Ayyam reported Israeli forces detained 18 Palestinians during multiple predawn raids across a number of West Bank districts.
