QALQILYA, March 29, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers Wednesday assaulted Palestinian farmers from several Qalqilya area villages in the north of the occupied West Bank, local sources said.

Omar Yamin, head of Jit village council, told WAFA settlers from the nearby illegal Havat Gilad settlement outpost attacked the farmers who were working on their land.

He said that even though Palestinian farmers had coordinated with the Israeli military to access their lands, the farmers were surprised when they were attacked by the settlers while the Israeli soldiers present at the scene did nothing to stop them.

He said this was not the first attack by the settlers who regularly attack Palestinian farmers, uproot their trees and burn their crops.

Yamin said the Jit village council has informed the Palestinian Authority of the settlers’ actions in that area aimed at seizing their land in order to expand the settlement.
