RAMALLAH, May 17, 2016 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas issued on Tuesday a decree appointing Palestinian diplomat Husam Zumlut as a Presidential Counsel for Strategic Affairs, a newly introduced position in the Council of the Presidency.
Zumlut, a holder of PhD in political economy from London University, has served as Special Tasks Ambassador in the Council of the Presidency, after serving as Deputy Director of the PLO International Relations Department. He has also held other positions in the Council of the Presidency.
Prior to this, Zumlut served as acting Ambassador of Palestine to the United Kingdom between 2003 and 2009.
An academic, Zumlut taught several courses on public policy and strategic studies at Birzeit University, besides working as visiting lecturer and researcher at Harvard University and London University.
Zumlut has also worked as an economic counsel for the United Nations Special Rapporteur in Palestine between 1996 and 1999.
Other remarkable organizations he worked for include Oxford Business Group and the Palestine Economic Policy Research Institute-MAS.
