RAMALLAH, March 28, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and some other ministers’ reaction to the shooting of a wounded Palestinian at point-blank range in Hebron hit the front page headlines in Palestinian dailies.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam reported that Netanyahu defended the Israeli military’s “morality”.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that Netanyahu and some of his ministers expressed their solidarity with the soldier who murdered the Abed al-Fattah al-Sharif.
Al-Quds added in this regard that Israeli settlers called for Elor Azraya, the soldier who murdered al-Sharif, to be released.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida explained that over 42,000 Israelis have signed a petition calling for Azarya to be rewarded.
It is worth mentioning in this regard that Abed al-Fattah al-Sharif and Ramzi al-Qasrawi, both 21, were shot down Thursday after they allegedly stabbed and wounded an Israeli soldier in the Hebron neighborhood of Tal Rumeida.
Emad Abu Shamsiya, a Palestinian human rights worker, recorded a video footage of an Israeli soldier, identified as Elor Azraya, shooting al-Sharif in the head at point-blank range in plain view of the medical team after he had already been shot at least once and left motionless on the ground.
Highlighting Israeli forces raids, al-Quds reported that military raided the Bethlehem town of Beit Fajjar.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that forces shot and injured several Palestinians with live ammunition and rubber-coated steel bullets and detained several others during a raid into the Bethlehem refugee camp of al-Duheisha.
Highlighting President Mahmoud Abbas’ meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in Amman, al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that Abbas and Ban discussed Palestinian efforts to bring forward a UN resolution calling for illegal Israeli settlement construction to be halted.
Al-Ayyam reported that Abbas reiterated his support for an international peace conference this summer to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that Israeli Supreme Court stroke down a gas development deal.
