Israel to Demolish Animal Barn near Hebron

HEBRON, March 22, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces on Tuesday notified a Palestinian in at-Tabban, a small village to the south of Hebron, about their intent to demolish an animal barn of his own, according to a local sources.

Rateb Jabour, coordinator of the Anti-Settlement Commission in Hebron, told WAFA that Israeli soldiers handed Nasser Abu-Edeid, a local Palestinian, a notification regarding their intent to demolish his animal barn.

Meanwhile, soldiers set up a flying checkpoint outside the nearby villages of Janba and al-Markaz. The soldiers briefly detained school children and searched their bags, before letting them go.

The three villages are part of Masafer Yatta, a collection of almost 19 hamlets to the south of Hebron, which relies heavily on animal husbandry as the main source of livelihood.

Located in Area C of the West Bank, under full Israeli administrative and military control, the area has been subjected to repeated Israeli violations by settlers and soldiers targeting their main source of living, livestock.

Israeli violations against the area include demolition of animal barns, homes and residential structures. Issuance of construction permits by Israel to local Palestinians in the area is strictly ed.
