CAIRO, January 13, 2016 (WAFA) - Assistant Secretary General for Palestine and occupied Arab lands at the Arab League, Saeed Abu Ali Wednesday said the league has taken concrete steps with regional and international parties to encourage the convening of an international peace conference and reviving efforts regarding the Palestinian cause.
Abu Ali told the press that to actually convene the conference; the League must initiate communication and encourage international parties. He said the Arab ministerial committee to end the Israeli occupation has discussed in its last meeting a number of suggestions and future ideas to provide international protection to the occupied territory.
Led by Egypt, Abu Ali affirmed talks are underway to propose a new project at the United Nations Security Council to end the Israeli occupation and enable the state of Palestine to enjoy its sovereignty and independence within a specified timeframe.
He further called for genuine Arab efforts to face the escalating Israeli violence against the Palestinian people, which led to the death of over 180 people since early October 2015, and over 15,000 injuries and detentions. The Arab Ministerial committee approved a number of steps, both on the legal level and at the Security Council.
