WEST BANK, August 27, 2015
(WAFA) – At least 17 Palestinians were detained on Thursday by the Israeli army
or police during predawn raids across the West Bank and Jerusalem, according to
local and security sources.
In Hebron district, army forces
raided the town of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, where they detained Muhannad
Awad, 22, and Nour Awad, 23. They two were taken to the nearby Etzion military
compound, while a third detainee, Jihad Alqam, 22, was forced to walk with
soldiers until they approached the nearby illegal settlement of Karmi Tzour.
The army also broke into the
town of Dahiriya, to the southwest of Hebron, and detained seven Palestinians.
They were identified as Anas
Hmedat, 22, Amjad Hawarin, 30, Hassan Wredat, 31, Alaa Najjar, 33, and his
brother Ra’ed Najjar, 25, in addition to Rafe Wredat, 32, and Ismail Najjar,
27. Army also arrested Ali Hmedat, 22, in the nearby town of Surif.
Meanwhile in Jenin, in the northern
West Bank, Israeli army stormed the city and the adjacent Jenin refugee camp,
where they detained three Palestinians after raiding their homes. The three
were identified as Hassan Saadi, Mohammad Zubedi, 18, and Mahmoud al-Alloub,
19.
In Jerusalem, Israeli police detained
three Palestinians during confrontations in al-Tur neighborhood. The three were
identified as Khader Abu-Ghannam, 15, Ahmad Abul-Hawa, 22, and Mohammad
Abu-Ghannam.
