RAMALLAH,
July 3, 2014 (WAFA) – Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed, Wednesday in a
press release, concerns over possible spoliation or destruction of evidence by
Israeli police in the murder of the Palestinian teenager Mohammad Abu-Khudeir
at the hands of settlers, stressing that “the credibility of the Israeli
government cannot be trusted.”
“Israel
has a proven track record of covering up for crimes committed by its soldiers
and settlers against Palestinians during the long years of occupation.”
The
ministry said it does not expect the Israeli authorities to arrest the
perpetrators and bring them to justice, especially since Israel has a long history
of covering up the identity of terrorists who killed innocent Palestinians and
who were able to escape justice under official Israeli decisions, therefore, “we
do not trust the credibility of the Israeli government.”
“Israeli
police that kills Palestinians cannot embark on a just and impartial
investigation,” said the statement. “While Israel is supposed to reveal the
crime it is covering it up; instead of revealing the evidence Israel is obliterating
them,” said the release.
It
added: “even though we all know the type of the car which abducted teenager Abu
Khudeir through surveillance cameras placed at the site of the abduction, which
recorded the car’s license plate and the faces of the three settlers, yet
Israeli police has not acted so far to issue a release regarding the crime nor
did it arrest the Jewish terrorists.”
“All
investigations carried out by Israeli police into Jewish terrorist crimes
against innocent Palestinians were phantom investigations merely so that it
could avoid international criticism against it,” said the ministry.
The
ministry called upon the international community to immediately act to retain
the evidence being concealed by Israeli police.
It
called upon the UN to form a neutral international investigative committee to
bring the criminals to justice.
The
ministry held the Israeli government accountable for inciting against the
Palestinians and nurturing the “culture of hatred,” personally led by Israeli
PM Netanyahu.
The
ministry voiced appreciation to all countries that have denounced the heinous
crime and called on all states to consider settlers as terrorist groups.
