RAMALLAH, May 4, 2014 (WAFA) – The
three Palestinian Arabic dailies highlighted on Sunday the ongoing
deliberations between the Palestinian factions to form a government of
technocrats.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said
President Mahmoud Abbas and Khaled Mesh’al, head of Hamas politburo, are due to
meet in Doha on Monday for consultations on forming a new government. Al-Ayyam
said deliberations for forming a new government will start within the few coming
days.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida added
that Azzam al-Ahmad, Fatah official for reconciliation talks with Hamas, is scheduled
to travel to Gaza on Sunday or Monday for the same purpose.
In a separate news subject, al-Quds
said in its main headline: “Price Tag commits a new crime in the village of
Nahhaleen, near Bethlehem, chopping off 54 olive trees and spraying anti-Arab
graffiti.” Al-Hayat al-Jadida also noted to the same incident.
Al-Quds and al- Hayat al-Jadida said
that coinciding with the World Press Freedom Day, Israeli forces Saturday
clamped down on a peaceful protest by journalists at Beit El checkpoint near
Ramallah.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said 120
administrative detainees, held in Israeli jails, continue with their hunger
strike for the tenth consecutive day.
Al-Quds said the 120 hunger strikers
called for upholding solidarity with them.
Al-Ayyam quoted a US official saying
Israel has not given the Palestinians “the minimum” in any agreement.
Al-Quds and al- Hayat al-Jadida said
Israel seals off the West Bank and Gaza under the pretext of the anniversary of
establishing Israel.
Al-Ayyam said promotional campaigns
for the presidential elections of Egypt have begun.
