TULKAREM, February 25, 2014 (WAFA) –
Tulkarem Municipality issued a press release Tuesday objecting a decision by
the so-called Israeli Civil Authority to double the current area of Gashori
factory through seizing Palestinian lands to the west of Tulkarem.
Tulkarem Municipality issued a press
release stating that seizing Palestinian lands by the so-called Israeli Civil
Authority is meant to set up new Israeli factories and, thereby, expand the
Israeli industrial zone known as ‘Gashori’ to shelter the activities of those
harming and polluting the environment.
The Municipality stated that it has
informed relevant Palestinian authorities about the issue and noted that some
Israeli human rights and environment organizations objected the master
plan.
The municipality had put forward
Monday an objection to the master plan drawn up by the so-called Israeli Civil
Administration to expand Gashori through Planners for Planning Rights
Organization (Bimkom).
The objection had been submitted in
a session held by the so-called Israeli Civil Administration in the Israeli
settlement of Beit El. It was demonstrated that most of the Palestinian land to
be seized according to the master plan lies within the boundaries of Tulkarem
master plan.
The so-called Israel Civil
Administration had announced Gashori expansion master plan in Haʻaretz on
September 11, 2013.
