AMMAN, May 31, 2026 (WAFA) – Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs on Sunday condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by Israeli colonists, who raised Israeli flags and chanted slogans inside its courtyards under the protection of Israeli police.
The ministry described the actions as a blatant violation of international law, a condemned escalation, and an unacceptable provocation that must stop immediately.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Fuad Al-Majali reaffirmed Jordan’s categorical rejection and strong condemnation of the continued incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and the accompanying provocative acts, describing them as a grave violation of the site's historic and legal status quo and a rejected attempt to impose temporal and spatial division within the holy site.
He stressed that Israel has no sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem or its Islamic and Christian holy places.
Al-Majali warned of the consequences of the continued violations and provocations, calling on the international community to take a firm stance and compel Israel, as the occupying power, to halt all irresponsible practices and ongoing violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, as well as its unilateral measures in the occupied West Bank.
