JENIN, December 31, 2013 (WAFA) – Public transport drivers in Jenin continued Tuesday their general strike protesting a decision by the municipality to award the contract to run the public station to a non-union company. The strike started on Sunday.
Drivers held a sit-in and parked their taxis at the governor’s
headquarters in Jenin calling upon Jenin governor, Talal Dweikat, to put an end
to this conflict and award the contract to run the station to the union
representing the drivers.
Local groups urged Dweikat to find a solution to this conflict,
which is causing hardships to town residents.
