RAMALLAH, October 7, 2026 (WAFA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Varsen Shahin today held two separate videoconferences with non-resident Arab and foreign ambassadors accredited to the State of Palestine to brief them on the latest political and humanitarian developments in the occupied Palestinian Territory, ongoing efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, and efforts to mobilize international action in support of their legitimate rights.
The briefings brought together non-resident Arab ambassadors and non-resident foreign ambassadors from Africa, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific.
During the two briefings, Shahin reviewed the situation in the Gaza Strip, drawing attention to the ongoing killing and destruction. She noted that this marks the fourth winter the Palestinian people have been forced to endure in tents amid catastrophic conditions across various sectors. She emphasized that critical sectors, particularly health, education, and public services, remain unable to meet the growing humanitarian needs of the Strip’s residents, further deepening their daily suffering.
She stressed the need to activate the work of the Board of Peace on the ground in the Gaza Strip and to transition from the first to the second phase of President Trump’s peace plan.
She also reviewed developments in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, highlighting the Judaization of Jerusalem, escalating incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, and continued colonization, specifically the E1 colonization plan. Furthermore, she detailed the ongoing land annexation, forced displacement, and home demolitions, as well as escalating colonist terrorism, the strangling of the Palestinian economy, and the continued withholding of clearance revenues aimed at undermining the Palestinian National Authority.
Shahin highlighted the danger of inciting rhetoric issued by ministers in the occupation government, which encourages violence, killing, and the burning of Palestinian homes, villages, and cities.
She called on the international community to raise its voice and pressure countries that have decided to move their embassies to Jerusalem to reverse their decisions.
She also briefed the ambassadors on the Palestinian government’s efforts, which focus on government reform, implementing the provisions of the New York Declaration, and continuing diplomatic efforts to secure the rights of the Palestinian people and strengthen their steadfastness.
Shahin thanked the countries for their positions in support of the Palestinian cause at international forums and for their assistance in advancing the international coalition to implement the two-state solution.
She called on countries to abide by the provisions of the New York Declaration and commended the positions of numerous countries that have taken measures to ban products from Israeli colonies.
