RAMALLAH, September 29, 2026 (WAFA) – The European Union and several European nations—including France, Germany, and Denmark—have pledged €20 million in urgent aid to support development efforts in Area C through programs implemented by the Palestinian government.

This commitment follows a cooperation agreement signed by the Minister of Finance and Planning, Istifan Salameh, and the Director for the Middle East at the European Commission, Henrike Trautmann.

The agreement falls within the framework of joint cooperation between the EU and the Palestinian government, aiming to address the needs of Palestinian citizens—particularly vulnerable groups—residing in Area C.

Salameh praised the constructive, multifaceted cooperation between the State of Palestine and the European Union. He emphasized that this financial and political support positively impacts the lives of Palestinian citizens, particularly through the implementation of vital programs that help sustain their presence and improve their quality of life.

The Minister of Finance and Planning stressed that current critical circumstances demand intensified efforts to urgently address growing needs. These challenges arise amidst severe restrictions on the movement of people and goods, the stifling of the Palestinian economy, and the withholding of Palestinian public funds for the seventeenth consecutive month.

This latest agreement with the EU supports urban development, administration, and local governance, as well as the development of social and public facilities and services. These initiatives will be carried out through program tracks implemented by the Ministry of Local Government and the Palestinian Land Authority.
