DOHA, September 20, 2026 (WAFA) – The State of Qatar condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and colonists under the protection of Israeli occupation police, describing it as a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law and an unacceptable provocation of the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world.

In a statement today, Sunday, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that Al-Aqsa Mosque is exclusively a place of worship for Muslims and that all unilateral measures aimed at changing the existing historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites are null and void under international law.

The ministry warned that the continuation of such violations and repeated provocations could fuel cycles of violence and escalation in the region, undermine prospects for de-escalation and stability, and reiterated its call on the international community to take urgent action to compel Israel to halt its ongoing violations against the Palestinian people and their holy sites and comply with relevant international legitimacy resolutions.

The ministry also reiterated Qatar’s firm position in support of the Palestinian cause and the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, based on ending the occupation and enabling the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate rights, foremost among them the establishment of their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
