HEBRON, August 11, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces on Tuesday detained three workers from the Hebron Rehabilitation Committee and briefly detained Hebron Mayor Yousef al-Jaabari while they were carrying out and inspecting rehabilitation projects in Jaber neighborhood in the Old City of Hebron.
Hebron Municipality’s Public Relations Director Ghaith Ghaith said Israeli forces briefly detained the mayor and several engineers while they were inspecting a project to rehabilitate and pave a street in Jaber neighborhood. They were later released.
Meanwhile, activist Aref Jaber said Israeli forces detained three workers from the Hebron Rehabilitation Committee and a technical team working on the rehabilitation of wells in Jaber neighborhood.
Jaber neighborhood and other areas of Hebron’s Old City have faced ongoing Israeli restrictions, including the suspension of development projects, restrictions on residents, and obstruction of basic services.
