JENIN, July 28, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities have escalated their colonial settlement measures in the Jenin Governorate over the past two days by issuing a series of military orders to seize around 200 dunums of land belonging to several towns and villages across the governorate.

The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission said that 14 of the orders allocate land for the construction and expansion of military roads with a total length exceeding 11.3 kilometers in the southeastern, southwestern, and southern parts of the governorate, serving a network of new colonial outposts approved by the Israeli government on lands in the governorate. One of the orders also allocated 22 dunams of land in Al-Yamoun for the establishment of a military site and an access road in the northern part of the governorate.

The Commission added that the maps attached to the orders reveal that these measures are not isolated or temporary military requirements, but rather constitute an integrated project to restructure military movement and control across the governorate through the redesign of three road sections along its southern axis.

Tareq Aghbaria, Jenin Governorate's settlement affairs official, told WAFA that Jenin Governorate has recently witnessed a rapid escalation in the issuance of land seizure and confiscation orders, particularly over the past two days, with the measures mainly concentrated in the southern areas of the governorate, especially Arraba, Qabatiya, and Misilya.

He warned that these measures threaten a catastrophic situation in the governorate, calling for serious action and joint efforts to halt colonial settlement expansion, which he said is consuming agricultural lands, undermining the foundations of Palestinian life, tightening restrictions on residents, and pushing them toward forced displacement.

He added that land seizure orders coincide with an increase in demolition notices and stop-work orders targeting Palestinian structures, stressing that these measures are not isolated incidents but part of a systematic Israeli policy aimed at undermining Palestinian presence through the appropriation of more land and the imposition of new colonial realities in Jenin Governorate.
