RAMALLAH, July 16, 2026 (WAFA) – The Israeli government approved late Wednesday allocating over one billion shekels for road construction serving dozens of new settlements in the West Bank, including settlements planned for the northern West Bank.
According to the proposal submitted by the extremist Israeli Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, the approved budget amounts to 1.075 billion shekels and will be allocated over three years.
The plan includes planning and constructing new access roads, the upgrading of existing roads, and the development of road sections located outside the boundaries of settlements and connecting them.
The budget is designated towards dozens of settlements approved by the Israeli Security Cabinet during the war, as well as other settlements the Israeli government intends to establish later.
Among the settlements included are Homesh, Sa-Nur, Ganim, and Kadim in the northern West Bank, in addition to a wider range of new settlements currently under planning.
The funding also includes military roads serving settlements, as well as roads connecting multiple settlements, further expanding the settlement infrastructure network and supporting the establishment and expansion of new settlements.
The decision also includes budget allocations for roads serving settlements in the Negev, but a central part of the plan is directed toward settlements approved by the government in the occupied West Bank.
Smotrich described the decision as a "settlement and security revolution," and said that the Israeli government intends, within its framework, to establish more than 100 settlements and 160 agricultural and pastoral outposts.
